CanScreen

SERVICE UPDATE

As of April 1, 2026, CanScreen is no longer accepting new patients.

Over the coming months, we will continue to support patients who are already in the CanScreen system, including those awaiting results, further investigations, or follow-up.

We are proud of what CanScreen has achieved over the past three years and deeply grateful to the patients, providers, and partners who supported this work.

WINDING DOWN

After three years of service, CanScreen has made the difficult decision to begin winding down.

CanScreen was created as a physician-led response to an important gap in care for patients without a regular primary care provider. Over the past three years, the service has shown that a virtual, centralized model can improve access to cancer screening and follow-up for patients who might otherwise struggle to navigate the system.

As the service evolved, it became clear that long-term continuation would require broader coordination, shared responsibility, and system-level support beyond what an interim physician-led service could provide. While that next phase did not come together in a way that allowed CanScreen to continue, we are deeply proud of what was achieved and sincerely grateful to the patients, partners, and providers who supported this work.

To learn more about CanScreen’s impact, please read our Patient Survey Summary and Support Team Testimonials.

We remain hopeful that the lessons from CanScreen will help inform future improvements in care.

If you are still awaiting follow-up with CanScreen, you may book your follow-up appointment using the link below.

THE VISION

CanScreen was the first clinic dedicated exclusively to cancer screening and cancer care in BC.

CanScreen offered support in accessing publicly funded cancer screening and cancer surveillance to all BC residents, with a special focus on unattached patients. The aim was to increase awareness, access, and participation in cancer screening programs to improve health outcomes for all individuals in BC.
